Briefing

I have some bad news, you. The Republic wasn't all too pleased with our attack on the last batch of miners they sent here, which you took part in. Apparently they sent in some reinforcements to the area, to stage a counter-offensive. They must have been deployed nearby already, as it took them a very short time to get here. I require you to take care of them. We can't afford to lose more ships in these never-ending skirmishes with their forces. Our lines are already thinning from constant battles with freelancers intent on exploiting our valuable resources. Once you have eliminated the threat they pose, return to me for your reward.
