About this site
EVE Info is a free, independent reference site for EVE Online, the player-driven universe simulation by CCP hf. We aggregate and present publicly available game data: item types, NPC ships, market groups, refine prices, mining rigs, agents and the jump-route universe map.
The site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by CCP hf. or Punchcard, Inc. EVE Online is a trademark of CCP hf.; all trademarks used on this site are the property of their respective owners and are used for illustration only.
What we collect
Browsing EVE Info requires no account and we never ask you to provide personal details such as a name, e-mail address or in-game character. The only information the site can collect is anonymous, technical data, and only with your consent where required:
- Traffic and usage data — the browser and device you use, the pages you view and the site you arrived from, collected through Google Analytics — only after you allow the analytics category.
- Advertising data — the site displays advertising served by Google AdSense; Google may set cookies and use information about your visits to serve relevant advertisements — only after you allow the marketing category.
- Access logs — the web server that hosts the site records a standard entry for every visit: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser and device you use, and the page you arrived from. These logs are kept for a limited period to operate and secure the site and to produce aggregate statistics; they are never linked to your identity.
- Your region — a two-letter country code, determined as described in How we determine your region below and used only to select the correct cookie rules.
A cookie is a small file stored on your device. Once accepted, it lets a website recognise you as you move between pages and helps analyse traffic. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or to information you have not chosen to share.
How we use the information
- To understand which tools and data people find most useful, so we can improve the site.
- To produce aggregate statistics about how the site is used.
- To operate and secure the site, based on the access logs described above.
- To let advertising partners show you relevant ads, as described above.
We will not sell, distribute or lease your information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law, and we do not send marketing e-mail — the site does not collect e-mail addresses.
Cookies and your choices
EVE Info uses a lightweight cookie consent manager. Third-party scripts and cookies are grouped into four categories — necessary (always active: site operation, security and the storage of your consent choice), functional (convenience features such as the image lightbox), analytics (anonymous usage statistics via Google Analytics) and marketing (advertising, audience measurement and personalised targeting) — and no script in a category runs until that category is switched on.
The consent manager itself stores your choice in a small first-party cookie (ei_privacy) and in your browser's local storage, kept for one year so the site does not ask you again on your next visit.
It is part of the necessary category: it contains nothing but your consent choice, is never used for tracking, and is never shared with anyone.
You can delete it at any time through the consent panel or your browser's settings — the site will simply ask you again.
The default behaviour depends on where you browse from: for visitors in the European Union (and other regions with opt-in rules), nothing runs beyond the necessary category until you choose, and we ask for consent before anything else executes. For visitors in the United States, categories are on by default under the CCPA/CPRA notice-and-opt-out model — the Your Privacy Choices link in the footer switches off marketing and personalised tracking in one click.
You can change your mind at any time:
- Use the Cookie Settings button (bottom-right of every page) or the Cookie Settings link in the footer to reopen the consent panel and switch any category on or off.
- Use your browser's Global Privacy Control setting — when your browser signals it, we automatically switch off analytics and marketing.
- Use your browser's settings to view and delete cookies, or to block third-party cookies entirely.
- Opt out of personalised Google advertising at adssettings.google.com.
- Install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on to stop Google Analytics from collecting your data.
Disabling cookies may prevent you from taking full advantage of parts of the site. When you switch a category off, we
also delete that category's cookies from your browser where we can (for example _ga and _gid when analytics is off).
How we determine your region
To apply the correct cookie rules — ask-for-consent in the EU, notice-and-opt-out in the US — the site needs to know which country you are browsing from. The content delivery network in front of the site determines your country from your IP address on the server, before your page is sent.
When that information is not available — for example, when a page is served from the origin directly — the page makes a single anonymous request to a lightweight geolocation service (ipapi.co) and uses only the two-letter country code in the response, which is then discarded. Your country is used solely to select the consent profile described above: it is not stored, and we do not derive any more precise location from it.
Third-party services
On the pages that display game items, ships or agents, your browser loads the accompanying game images from CCP hf.'s image server (images.evetech.net). The image lightbox on item and ship pages is a small script loaded from the jsDelivr CDN — part of the functional category, so it runs only once you have allowed that category.
Where we display advertising, your browser loads Google AdSense (google.com/adsense), the network that serves the ads on the site. It is part of the marketing category, so it loads only once you have allowed that category — and any request to it discloses your IP address to Google, just as it does to us. You can opt out of personalised Google advertising at adssettings.google.com.
The image and lightbox services are not used to track you between sites, and we have no control over any data they may retain on their side — their own privacy policies apply to that.
Your rights
If you live in the European Economic Area or in another country with similar data protection law, you have the right to access the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
In practice, the personal data involved is limited: your consent choice lives in your own browser (you can clear it any time, as described above), and the access logs kept by the host include your IP address, which under EU law counts as personal data.
To exercise any of these rights — including asking us to delete your IP address from the access logs — contact us through the EVE Info Facebook page. Where the data is held by the host rather than by us, we will pass your request on to them. We will respond within one month.
Security
We are committed to ensuring that the information we collect is secure. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information collected online.
