Alliance Tournament XX Wrap-Up

by EVE Online Team3:30pm on Thursday 7th November 2024

Competitive capsuleers,

For the second Alliance Tournament in a row, The Tuskers Co. entered the arena in a best-of-five grand finale. Last time, The Tuskers Co. beat Fraternity. in the first two games of the finals, but Fraternity. came back in an epic flurry of matches to win three rounds in a row and were crowned champions of Alliance Tournament XIX.

For a moment, it looked like history was bound to repeat itself when The Tuskers Co. won their first two games, then, in games three and four, their opponents Truth. Honour. Light. closed the gap, so everything was on the line in the fifth and final match. The list of accumulated conquest bans was reset, but this time, in a tense final battle, The Tuskers Co. pulled it out of the hat and won the final round. Congratulations to them!

In the System of Manarq, the Alliance Tournament Monument stands as a beacon. The logo of The Tuskers Co. alliance has now been added to commemorate their victory in ATXX!

If you missed any of the action, you can find the Tournament broadcast on Youtube (with the last 2 days coming later today). Every match and participating alliance is listed in the description for each day if you’re looking for a particular match or day.

Prize Delivery

Ships from top to bottom: Enforcer, Marshal, Pacifier, Monitor.

This year's prizes are currently being delivered directly to the hangars of the winning teams’ alliance executors over in Jita 4-4. The victorious teams are being rewarded with stunning SKINs and unique ships.

Ten CONCORD Victory SKINs, for all four CONCORD ships, are awarded for a match victory this year, including the “best of” matches, in addition to the feeder tournament. Alliance spokespersons will also be rewarded with these SKINs, for putting real faces to the teams and sharing a bit of history and friendly banter, bringing the total of SKINs being distributed this year to a whopping 1,341!

The prizes this year feature three powerful and unique ships, retooled (or “vandalized” in the words of CONCORD) by Korako “the Rabbit” Kosakami of the Guristas, who took over sponsorship of the Alliance Tournament this year. Some of the alterations made turn CONCORD’s notoriously stringent pilot verification protocols against them, as well as adding “preposterously costly upgrades and alterations” to present a deadly pinnacle of Guristas starship engineering.

Lets take a look at how the ship prizes are distributed:

Making for a total of 385 ships awarded this year.

It has been noted that the new prize SKIN currently has the description from the previous tournament. The Python also has the trait “ECM Burst Jammer optimal range, falloff and strength increased by a percentage equal to -10.0x pilot negative security status with a floor of 0% and a ceiling of 75%.” The “percentage equal” element here should be “-7.5x” instead of “-10.0”. Both errors will be corrected in a patch before the end of the year. As these don’t interfere with the function of either ship or SKIN, it was decided to go ahead with the delivery to get it into team's hands sooner rather than later.

Medals are back this year! Two types of medals are being distributed: tradeable medals and “decoration” medals (the type you show off on your character info).

Alongside the rest of the Alliance Tournament XX prizes, the “decoration” medals will be awarded to all individuals listed on the rosters of the teams that finished in the top sixteen positions. The tradeable medals will also be awarded to those on the rosters of the top three teams!

The Alliance Tournament cup has also been updated with a list of winners and a single cup will be placed in the hanger of captain of the winning team, Mira Chieve.

The physical trophy design is still in progress, but pictures will hopefully be available as Fanfest 2025 draws near.

The IGC is currently working through the backlog of decoration medals and issuing medals still outstanding from previous tournaments, which will be delivered by the end of the year.
