Community Beat for 06 June

by EVE Online Community Team9:15pm on Friday 6th June 2025

Helloooooo New Eden!

Happy Friday, everyone - it's time for another edition of the community beat! The universe has been electric with activity since the start of the Legion expansion, with endless battles bristling across multiple regions of space, providing a plethora of pew pew pew. We've seen the first sets of Sarathiels produced (and destroyed) and even the first sets of Babarogas produced (and destroyed); no one and nowhere is free from the calamity of chaos these ships seem to be creating. That's not to mention also seeing some fantastical Freelance Jobs being produced, and we've been greatly entertained watching some of the creativity of the player base here as well. If you've tuned into the CCP Twitch channel on a Friday, then you'll know that the community team regularly goes on a roam across the universe; the corporation "Choir of morning" took it upon themselves to add a bit of a bounty to that if you like to hunt devs after they set up a freelance project to hunt down CCP members!

"Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonourable' and 'unfair'. Jam those ones first and kill them last" - Jirai 'Fatal' Laitanen, Pithum Nullifier Training Manual c. YC104 is one of my favourite quotes, which you can find in the "Chameleon" ship hull description. However, the "Order of the Red Kestrel" corporation seems to be one of those corporations that claim this scourge must be purged and rewards the universe being cleansed of ECM-bonused ships.

One of the things the community was also talking about was that Freelance Jobs might be used as a tool to trick people into situations that would get players killed; however, leaning into the aspect that destruction and accepting loss are a constructive part of the growth in New Eden, "Corp Borp" also set up a job to embrace that loss instead—helping to make that first loss sting a little less.

B-E-A-utiful.

EVE Online content creator Lurm put together a great video covering some of the Freelance Jobs as well from the expansion launch day; you should check it out if you haven't already, some of them had us in fits of laughter:

War has been declared!

Two large nullsec factions, The Imperium and Pandemic Horde have been at war for a little bit now, and we've seen some great coverage so far. Capsuleer "Walter Islands" over on the EVE Online Discord has been sharing some epic screenshots of some of the battles and mobilisation so far:

In addition, "Warlock Industries" over on YouTube has routinely been putting out videos with footage of some of the battles and keeping a tally of some of the destruction in ISK:

Keep an eye on their channel to stay updated with some of the high-value battles!

And now for something completely different..

In the realms of other videos as well, a whopping 13 years ago, dredditMOT/Test Alliance released a video called "Lasers are Magic" featuring some of their adventures, which involved "deploying the rainbow" in the form of a selection of Coercers with a full range of crystals for their lasers. This year, as a tribute to that video, Dirt 'n' Glitter released an up-to-date video with the same concept, taking on a selection of different-sized targets to the same soundtrack:

Returning to more... regular things - the Cenotaph has been another ship that has been out for a while now, and players have really started learning how to maximise its effectiveness in combat encounters. Terrorising targets at short range, the battlecruiser can cloak up, sneak in close, then decloak and BLAST targets with its devastating high-damage over time breacher pod. Even when a part of a small fleet, a few of these ships creeping in close can cause a lot of damage. We saw a video earlier this week that really exemplifies the use of the Cenotaph, and if you're looking for ways they could be used or how to fly them, this is the video for you:

Art Corner

The Community Beat wouldn't feel complete without a section dedicated to some of the art the community has been putting out. We routinely feature Lloyd George, aka El_Geo's work, as it is a gold standard of incredible watercolour painting. The detail in his paintings is at the next level. As of late, he has been on an absolute rampage of painting - in the previous community beat, we featured the Thunderchild; this time, we have a collection of other incredible work that he has recently produced:

The Exemplary Exequor, the Barbourous Babaroga, the Prevelant Pacifier, and the ever-prominent Proteus are all in watercolour—absolutely stunning!

We also want to shout out Khezu Knight, who's been sharing some of their adorable art. They've been creating some wonderfully charming creations, both in the digital world and in the physical:

EVE-NTually coming up activities..

A good chunk of community interactions also comes from meetups, and EVE Online is blessed with a community that also enjoys such things! The team loves to give shoutouts wherever possible to our event organisers (and on occasion attend the meets ourselves) because they always have a story to tell, be it from the events themselves or from people attending them, sharing what they've been up to in-game.

Sin Alarma has confirmed EVE Down Under (EDU) for 26-28 September in Australia! The Eventbrite page has all the details and a link to the Discord for it.

If Australia is a bit too far for you, then fear not! Events also routinely happen in-universe as well, and Federation Day is another opportunity to gather and engage with the rest of the community. Want people to check out your most excellent drip? Well, the Mister and Miss pageant contest runs during the event, where you can share your "Best dressed" avatars in a thread that's then voted on for some sweet PLEX prizes!

Consider yourself more of a ship design connoisseur instead? A SKINdustrailist? No problem, there's an event for that, too! Join the attendees in a conga line parading your creation, alongside an exemplary display of fireworks to win prizes! Consider yourself more of a trivia buff than an artiste? They've got you covered there, too, with trivia questions about the Gallente Federation to test your wit and lore knowledge.

Come and join the celebrations outside Dodixie IX - Moon 20 - Federation Navy Assembly Plant on Saturday, 28 June at 18:00 UTC to participate in the fun and check the forum thread for more information!

That's all for this Beat! See you again for the next edition in a couple of weeks, and keep BLASTING!
