Community Beat for 8 May

by EVE Online Community Team10:00pm on Friday 8th May 2026

Greetings, Spacefriends

From massive record-breaking PVP space battles to you all contributing to the rise of a new Gallente President following weeks of a virtual neck-and-neck tie, all across New Eden has been busy with activity!

Walter Islands captured a few screenshots of the recent battle in the system of 4-HWWF over the WinterCo Keepstar there prior to its destruction by members of the Imperium, check them out:

Alongside that, it seems to have been a month of storytelling as well. We have a whole slew of videos the community has published, highlighting fun moments in fights, a few lore-centric videos, and even a couple to help with Capsuleer Day content, for those of you looking to complete your reward tracks!

Rist vs Reward

To start us off, Rist Ozuwara posted a video claiming to be one of the largest smartbomb kills in history, showing a fleet of 8 Black Ops ships wiping out a whopping 85b of Mackinaws. Ever since the days of seeing Rooks and Kings pulling off what the community came to call “Pipe-bombing”, where fleets of ships would warp gate to gate, then the fleet lands in a field of smartbombing battleships, using smartbombs has always entertained me; they just don’t suspect it. Getting them set up well feels so rewarding in the sense of being able to destroy many with few. The chimes for the killmails just kept coming..

MY RAVEN WAS EQUIPPED WITH THE FOLLOWING

Speaking of things people don’t suspect, the next video comes from Gmoney Mcswaggins, who shows us the power of an armor-tanked Raven. Most people expect a Raven to be shield tanked, whilst it doesn’t technically have a type bonus for shields - it's got a little more shield HP at base, with 7 mid slots, vs 5 low slots, so shields are the expectation. But not this time. Sitting in the ESS, the raven has been set up as a point-blank Raven - high damage torps, then a whole rack of mid slots dedicated to maximum application and limited armor tank in the low slots. Gave me a good chuckle watching the unexpected outcomes in this video:

BOB Take the wheel

Also in the realms of having fun in the least suspecting ways, IamTired (me too, man, me too) has blessed us with the annual upload of Titan Memes 10! Seeing Titans drive-by Doomsday things never ceases to amuse me. The confidence, the swagger, the setup, the only thing you can ever do is admire it, even when you’re on the receiving end of it. People expect to see Titans used in projection to move people around, or in the middle of a full commitment fleet fight, firing off doomsdays at capitals, using a Phenom generators to change the landscape of the battlefield, alongside a whole supporting fleet making sure they stay protected. Instead for “Drive-bys” the Titan arrives, Doomsdays an isolated big ship, and scuttles away. Incredible stuff:

The Golden Fleet

Next up, we have a video from Bill Paid, about The Amarr Empire. New Eden has now had several decades of Chronicles, dating back to YC102 (the year 2000). If you’re not familiar with Chronicles, they’re essentially short “slice of life” stories from various things in New Eden. Telling the story of why “EVE has sound” when space should be silent, how capsuleers came to be, and giving you a better idea of what it really means to be your chosen faction. You can find the chronicles page here, or, if you prefer audiobooks, Zendane has many in audio form as well, available here. Admittedly, with all that knowledge and background, it can be a lot to take in, so hearing it condensed into an hour-long video is incredible. Learning what a holder is in the Amarr Empire, how marriage works, and even what the Order of St Tetrimon really is. Check out his video:

Capsuleer Day Tips and Tricks:

For those looking for tips and tricks for completing their Capsuleer Day reward track, we saw a couple of other cool videos from Wadd Enderas, taking you through the higher-end hacking exploration sites, the Warparth strategic infiltration sites for the explorers amongst us. Alongside Lynne Rankin, sharing how to complete the Warpath Defense Grids. They can be a little tricky to understand at first, as these sites haven’t really been seen before, but Lynne does a really expert job breaking these down into incredibly digestible chunks:

WE.ARE.EVE.

To wrap it all up today, we of course have Fanfest happening next week, where you’ll find all the community team alongside many other Fenris Creations staff at Harpa. KEKBUR put out a 128-second video for a tribute to YC128 featuring a plethora of content, including Fanfest content, and it seems like a really good video to wrap up today's Community Beat:

On behalf of the whole team, we really look forward to seeing you there, the SWAG you all have to exchange, and the stories you have to tell. Safe travels to you coming on over, and for all of you tuning in online, we’ll see you in stream chat too! o7
