A major personel convoy carrying countless Caldari State members was completely obliterated by Guristas ships, led by that damned commander of theirs, Rachen Mysuna. His reputation as a brutal Pirate military leader has traveled far and wide these past few years, and it's time to put and end to his miserable existance.

4:25am 2010 Monday 11th October 2010 Just got a Maelstrom with 10k sp,
- T1 meta 4 guns.
- Large Shield Booster II
- 2x Invull Shield II
- Ballistic Shield II
- Heat shield II

Pocket 1: Had artillery fitted and had to warp out. Blasted remaining away with T1 meta 4 Auto cannons
Pocket 2: Needed 1 warp out I think
Pocket 3: Killed the 2 ships close by and then I had to warp out when I saw the rest was far away and I was on 40% shield using auto cannons.
At try 2 I used artillery and shot down the 4 webbers at 50-60 km. Try 3 I took out the rest except for Mysuna.

Piss for Mysuna:
I warped out when Mysuna was the last one remaining. Then I equipped Large Shield Booster II, 1 heat shield II, 2 ballistic shields II and 100mn AB. Warped in and did not target him. I flew to him to 8km without getting aggro (Vespa drones out). Then I attacked him with my auto cannons (close combat) and he died within less then a minute and shields above 95%. It only took a couple of minutes to get back after the warp out since there is no need to travel to the 2nd and 3rd warp gate.

After the struggling first part I was very happy the last boss was such a piss :)

So my biggest struggle was tanking the damage, since all ships went down quite fast. All my shield skills are at least at level 4 and the Mael is quite a tank.

done this in my Golem (46M skill points, all support at lvl 5), with a normal mixed t1 / T2 setup (tank runs out in 13 mins if you salvage / track at the same time).

Just go in and shoot everything, do not bother to move. I recommend shooting the cruisers / BCs / destroyers first, due to their needing only one volley and as such your cutting DPS down fast.

The towers need 2 volleys, but due to range a volley is fired before the precedent arrives, so be sure to cycle your missile launchers manually after the second volley.

When I needed to finish that final bastard I just put my ship on "go near", switched off weapons and switched on the tank and passed my vaccum cleaner, then made coffee. After ten minutes we were close and he died in about 4 mins (drones ...)

7:13am 2008 Sunday 3rd February 2008 Solo'd this in a Drake(BC) configured as follows:
Lows: 3 SPR II, 1 BCS II
Meds: 2 Invul II, 2 LSE II, 2 SR II
High: Mishmash of generic and named HMLs
Rigs: 3 CDFP I
Amo: Scourge, CN Scourge for Boss

Most of the mission was medium difficulty, trained some parts, but did not have to warp out, spent most of the time using only one invul field. Boss was impossible from range, but once I got within 5K (took a long time, maybe 10 minutes) I destroyed the BS quckly. Elapsed time including looting, travel, selling, etc 2 minutes, generating 18.5 million ISK. I used my drones but they only added marginally to my DPS (my drone skills are low).

8:44am 2007 Wednesday 17th October 2007 You could also chase the guy far enough and he will MWD back and you can put your drones on him then. I couldn't for the life of me break his tank till I could get 5t1 vespa on him and I've got 3mil missile skills

5:32am 2007 Wednesday 21st March 2007 OK - I did this in a Drake (too tight to buy a Raven) but it was a bit of a slog.

First 2 levels are pretty straight forward fitted like this:

7x named Heavy missile launchers
Kin, Therm, EM hardeners, 3x LSE II
PDS, BCU II, 2x SPR
5x Hornet I

The thrid level caused me to warp out once after I had killed 3 of the sentries. For anyone doing this, I wold drop the BCU II and use another SPR for the first part of the 3rd stage.

I cleared all but the boss and then attacked it, no dice, could not break the tank even at 4km distance.

So, I changed to the following setup:

5x Heavy Missile launcher II, 2x Arby (running out of CPU and PG)
Kin, therm hardeners, Shield Recharger II, 3x LSE II
1x PDS, 2x BCU II, 1x SPR
5x Hornet I

This took 3 full reloads to take him out, but it did get there in the end.

For anyone else wanting to do this in a Drake I recommend dropping the final SPR and adding another BCU II (You will probably have to go to 1 more arby instead of HML II to get the CPU to fit it all) and train T2 drones!!!

BTW - I have heavy missile specialisation at Lvl3 which is why the T2 launchers made such a difference.

9:32pm 2007 Friday 9th March 2007 right i did the mission again last night and the loot from the boss man was nothing special a 425 rail gun torp launcher and a few t1 mods all in all about 5 mill just for killing him if you sell the loot . did it in a raven this time but his tank is still a bit hard to beat so had to get the drones on him at the same time as the cruise missiles then he died fast after that :D

10:16pm 2007 Monday 26th February 2007 I did the full mission in my cerb without much trouble. That is untill i tryed to kill the boss the DPS he reps is just too much for the cerb . So after a few mins trying to kill it i went back to the station and got my drake went down fast enough .Only thing is when i killed him some fly guy that found his way in to the mission looted the can and warped before i could get to it. His frig got in to fast did not even see him there till it was too late. Anyone know what would have been in the can ?

...if those frigs come close yes. To be honest I don't remeber there orbit in this mission, but most of the times there orbits are from 6km to 9km (outside from the range of a normal large SB). On the other hand you can buy a good faction large SB with range up to 9km, but really expensive :D

Anyway, in some missions where the orbits of the frigs are really close (less than 5km) is a good (and fast) way to destroy them... BUT have in mind that in many cases when you use SB you are going to have full aggro from the stage. :?

This is definitely not consesus, but its an excellent idea (I just went and bought a Drone Link Augmentor). Everyone seems to be using Heavy Nos or guns for the extra high slots (besides the 6 cruise/torps) on the Raven, but with the cap rigs, the Nos aren't needed and drones ROCK! Especially now that they have the control range to (almost) preemptively strike. I can't fit a gun in the 8th slot anyway with my skills. (Augmentor is CPU use only, not powergrid.)

1:25am 2007 Monday 1st January 2007 aw comeon guys....this isn't hard. I'm only 4 months old and had no trouble with it. Then again, I got a gist xtype xl shied booster. To me, that is the best thing I ever bought (1.2bil at the time of this writing). With 4 arbi cruise, 2 arbi torp, t2 invul/kin/therm, and t1 drones it was easy. The key is that I always use an AB too. As others have said, you have to get close to the 2.5M bounty "boss". Its almost as if it runs its cap down tryiing to get away from you so that its shield boosters don't work. Without the AB on, and 25km from the boss, its shield boosters keep healing it at a very rapid rate. Was impossibile for me to kill until I got within about 5km of it.

it _will_ require u to have either an alt with a webber, or electronic warfare upgrades to 2 or 3 (2 works, 3 is better) so u can use drones on the last 2,5m BS cause he use defenders...

remember: all the feroxes need only 2 volleys, same with the turrests in the last stage. most BS's need 9 or less volleys (can kill 2 with full bays)

- train Electronic warfare drone interfacing -> gives 3000m drone range/lvl. At L2-L3 Michuna (or what is his name) should be in range for the drones.
- immediately after warp-in approach the sentry guns.
- Start shooting the sentries as soon as you can.
- 1 kin, 1 therm, 1 invul hardeners. T2 if you can.
- drop the railguns, and fit a heavy nos -> helps to keep your booster runing.

- kill everything, and if your drones don't do enough dmg, refit some torpedo launchers.

5:07pm 2006 Sunday 8th October 2006 I did this solo for the first time last night. Satisfying, but it took way oo long. Does anyone have any suggestions to improve the following approach?

The first two stages are easily done with a good Guristas mission setup. I used 6 cruise with wrath and 2 250mm railguns (antimatter) up top, all vespa (kinetic) drones, T2 x-l shield booster, 2*kinetic hardener, thermal hardener, shield boost amp, euctetic cap recharger, three T2 power diagnostics and 2 named/T2 ballistic controls.

The third stage is the problem. The two nearest battlecruisers go down no problem, but the sentry guns are too far away and do EM damage, which hurts the above setup a lot. I was forced to warp out and refit. I replaced the cap recharger with a sensor booster, one of the PDS with another ballistic control (in the (futile) hope this'd let me kill the end battleship) and swapped the boost amp for an EM hardener.

Warping back in, I was now able to kill all the sentry guns fairly quickly, and the ships didn't last long after that - except for the end boss, who proved impossible to kill with missiles alone, and equally impossible to get into the range of my drones and railguns.

I had to warp out and refit again, removing EM hardener and sensor booster, and replacing them with the cap recharger and a 100mn afterburner. This enabled me to get close enough to sic the drones and guns on him, and this let me grind him down and eventually destroy him.

Obviously two separate warp-out and refittings isn't ideal. I'd like to get it down to 1, at most. One way might be to leave out the sensor booster stage and just fit the afterburner and cap recharger into the 'spare' midslots try to use the former to close quickly into locking range of the sentry guns. But without some kind of EM hardening I doubt this would be practical, and warping out would still probably be necessary. To take on the ships still seems to require 2 kinetic and 1 thermal hardener, so I can't compromise on that part of the tank. And removing the shield boost amp already seriously dents the tank, as it means the booster needs to run for longer so I run out of cap fast.

How do others deal with this? One option I'm thinking about for next time would be to fit 1 kinetic hardener and 2 invulnerability fields. This would mean I had 40%ish EM resistance while having only slightly lower kinetic and thermal resistance. Any other ideas? Thanks for your help!

3:14pm 2006 Tuesday 26th September 2006 I accomplished the Vengeance Serpentis last night with my BRUTIX. Not the hardest l4 IMO but quite sophisticated for an advanced mission runner with 6.500.000 SP »only«. But what I like actually is to figure out the BRUTIX limits at l4. I believe a BRUTIX with t2 fittings and some good balanced Gunnery, Drones etc. skills and a good worked out combat strategy between close and mid-range will work fine for some harder l4's. Battlecruiser V is one target in my skill plan. I think with eg. max. Gunnery skills and BC V the BRUTIX will be an awesome close/mid combat beast ruled by a patient pilot. 3rd level: first group is two BCs @2000m, all cruisers are replaced by BCs.
