I currently fly a Caracal-class cruiser and, when I wanted to buy a Thorax, I noticed the price of it.

6 million! The drone capacity was mediocre compared to the other Galletean cruisers, and the 5 turrets couldn't be that great.

Same with the Maller. I couldn't believe that the price was that exaggerated. 2 times the price of a Caracal for just 5 turrets! No drone capacity!

That's just idiotic.

Another thing; Titans.

The Avatar's price is 50 billion (?) for 6 capital turret slots and 375 m3 drone space.

The Ragnarok's price is once 48 billion (?) for 6 turrets AND 2 launchers. I forgot the drone capacity, but it cannot make 2 billion ISK in differences.

What's up with these extreme prices?

Then, I thought about the armor and shield capacity. That cannot seriously be worth 2-200 million, could it?

-----

Anyways, I'm also debating something else. I want to buy a Stabber-class cruiser like the following.

{prices are as of 4:00 EST, 10/9/2006}

Stabber: 4000000 ISK
2xHeavy Missile Launcher I: 34000 ISK total
4x720mm carbine howitzer I: 294663.12 ISK total

Do you think it's worth it?

Hi jolu,

please check the other attributes of the Avatar. He is more a support ship, can create jump bridges, boosts the gang with almost 40% cap and can wipe out whole fleets with his Doomsday Device. There are quite some more goodies on this baby.....

why can are cars so exorbitantly different in price ? compare a (no idea, i am not into cars) mercedes with a .. erhh.. toyota, that have roughly the same 'values/equipment'. i am pretty sure the mercedes will be a lot more expensive :>

also keep in mind the thingy of supply and demand. some ships are bought more often, therefore there are more people producing them, which results in lower prices, since they want to sell them as well.

when shopping for ships, the best place to do so is probably in one of the big market hubs (jita comes to mind first of all) because of the above mentioned reasons, competition will be greatest there. if you don't want to fly that far for every little shopping trip, it often pays to check in neighbouring areas for the item you want as prices can vary greatly there as well (even though there might only be 1 jump in between)

u think cruisers are expensive try looking at the HAC's before u start complaining about a 3 mil difference in cruiser prices. also different ships do different dmg amount and different region/ systems all account for the price fluctuations.

Maller and Thorax are hard as nails whereas the Caracal is made of paper mache.

Sure the Caracal can do good damage and is a good ship but I would rather have the others.

dont get me started on HACs my deimos set me back so far i was practically crying, my advice to you is to not sweat those couple of mil, the top cruisers are much better than the not so good ones so dishin out a bit of cash for a thorax shouldnt be too much of a pain once you think about it

It's based on supply and demand, and the mineral prices for the ships. The Thorax is a small ship, with a lower mineral cost than others, but people also tend to lose them a lot. This drives both demand and price up. The higher end cruisers require more minerals, and are also in more demand.

The prices for some of the tier 2 battlecruisers and tier 3 battleships is a bit excessive, though, particularly since some don't even perform well. Take the Abaddon, for instance. It doesn't have enough capacitor to both tank and pack a decent weapons battery at the same time. It lacks the weapon capacitor use bonuses of the tier 1 and 2 battleships and replaces them with a weapons range bonus. You can tank, but not shoot, and shoot, but not tank. Piece of trash.

Price a Moa.

Anyways, the Thorax is a wicked little ship. I fly a Caracal and I hit the MWD and hope I can get away and aligned before those things grab on to me.

A Thorax is worth every bit of the 6 million.
