Expeditions

Expeditions are triggerred when certain objects are destroyed in exploration sites.

The only time I've ever had an expedition is blowing up a building located in the second room of an Unknown exploration type in 0.4 space. I dont know if profession sites such as ArcSal or Hacking will also give the expedition but I've never seen one in such sites.

An expedition is usually a multi-stage multi-location trip around space. My expedition took me first 6 jumps through low sec, then another seven, then 5 then back to the system I was first sent to.

You have 1 hr to do each stage. And at the end of any stage you can run into a deadend that takes you no further. My deadend occured at this fourth location.

However this fourth stage was probably the most fun stage I've ever run with a Pirate space station spamming smartbombs hitting me at 40 km out; and multiple spawns just when I thought I was finished.

My alliance has finished one low sec expedition with no deadends and gained faction goods worth 400m isk. they can be worth it.

I would recommend if you are looking to do one

Bring several friends - they are time consuming if you solo them
Have several hrs free
Dont start one at 12 midnight if you want to go to bed that night
If you want to mine the sites, you have to leave one ship at each location otherwise they despawn
