Mission Name : The Blockade
Agent Level : 3
Enemy : Guristas Pirates
Mission Type : Kill

Link : http://eveinfo.com/missions/157

Briefing :
I just received a transmission from reliable sources that the Guristas Pirates are planning a raid somewhere within ***. We know that they will strike sometime in the next 24 hours but that's about it. Now we'd like to be ready for them, we've already organized a few teams of mercenaries who are supposed to guard checkpoints near every stargate of this system, to insure that the pirates won't slip past us. I'd like you to set up a blockade near one of these checkpoints, ***. Gather everyone you can muster, I expect you to hold the area against any hostile ship that gets through that stargate. I'm counting on you!

Please post your impressions about this mission. Also you can post (share) your views, hints, tips, tactics and etc..

Be aware also that there is a small chance of the last spawn containing a Dread Gurista.

I had one today and it dropped a low grade crystal epsilon implant. In empire.

As of Revelations chapter 1... this mission involves several waves of SWARMS of guristas destroyers, HACs and BCs.

The reinforcement waves spawn like 100km away from the warp in point, and hit with heavy missiles from about 90km out. The destroyers and BCs go down easy, but my cruise missiles (was doing in a raven I typically use for lvl 4s) had quite a difficult time killing the HACs.

With nearly 2m in engineering and another 2m in missiles (t2 hardeners, pdus, bcus, arby cruise launchers, etc) it was easy, but it was a lot more than I expected from a level 3.

This mission is murder now... managed this with a Ferox, took about 2 hours and I agree with the previous poster. Not one for the faint hearted. Can be done solo, but I'd advise bringing a friend. Loot was trash too.

Found it to be rather easy. Done in a Dominix with medium range setup (30-45km) and Drones (40km), i'm pretty sure i could do it in my Brutix without any problems, too. Just don't let them come near you, especially not the HAC's, they have proven to be extremely resistant. I heard that if you let one ship of each spawn alive the other waves won't spawn, perhaps it's worth a try if you have problems.

No special loot, but about 11mil isk (bounty+agent). Should also be a heaven for salvagers.

With this mission the reinforcements arrive when you destroy one of a particular class of ships. Typically this is the class with the highest bounty.
Therefore the best tactic is to keep your range and leave the highest bounty ships until last.

D'oh - wish I'd seen this last week! I went for the big boys 1st and got into serious trouble in my Raven. I had to warp out twice! I have 8Mil sp with 2mil in missiles and 1.5mil in shield related. This is one tough mission!

P.S. Not much salvage - but that was before salvage was increased a few days ago

This was a bit of a challenge, but since I already knew the secrets: keep range and wait until the end to kill the loner, it just took a while in my Drake, there was no danger.

Here's the spawns:

1.
3 Pithatis Executor (BC)
4 Dire Pithium Mortifier (C)
1 Pithior Renegade (D) (triggers next wave)

2.
3 Pithior Renegade (D)
3 Pithior Nihilist (D)
2 Pirithatis Executor (BC)
3 Pirithatis Enforcer (BC)
1 Pirithatis Assasin (BC) (triggers next wave)
1 Pithi Wrecker

3.
3 Pithior Renegade (D)
4 Pithatis Executor (BC)
3 Pithatis Enforcer (BC)
1 Pithatis Death Dealer (BC) (triggers next wave)
3 Dire Pithium Eraser

4.
4 Dire Pithi Plunderer (F)
1 Pithatis Assaulter (BC) (triggers next wave)
5 Pithatis Executor (BC)
3 Pithum Inferno (C)

5.
4 Dire Pithi Despoiler
4 Pithaatis Death Dealer (BC)

There are five waves. I was shooting kin and tanking kin/therm.

This mission is doable solo. I just finished it in a drake.

Large T2 booster, shield amp, med cap injector, two active kinetic hardeners, and an active thermal hardener in the mids
7x heavy missile launchers in the highs.
I had a NOS fitted, but no rats ever got that close. I also had 5x light kinetic drones. Lows are PDS's and BCS's

But, you can't just park and kill in this one. This mission requires some tactics.

As soon as you warp-in start traveling away from the rats. I put my drones on the frigs and started killing BC's as fast as I could. If you start getting into trouble, look for a wreck or landmark that you can 'warp-to-0'. Candidates are wrecks and the structures in this area. This will give you a little break from the damage, and keep the range open. I did it earlier this week in a passive tanked ferox, and I was warping all over the mission area. With the drake, I never had to. (DPS is king in this one...)

The drake also finished the mission much faster than the ferox.

Stick by jorupps perfect guide... Kill the loners last. It helps killing the normal BC's, cruisers and frigs first, the HACs later... as they're harder to kill (high resists).

it took me about an hour in a drake. worst thing you can do in this mission is letting the next wave spawn too early
i like passive tanking the drake so this is my setup(no bothering with cap or boosters this way)

7 malkuth heavy's
3 best named shield extenders 2 kinetic hardeners 1 thermal hardener
2 shield power relays and 2 local diagnostic systems

plenty of room left for either a salvager or a tractor beam only downside i have is my missiles can fly further then i can target

It took 30-45 minutes in my megathron. earned 6 million in bounties. There is probably somewhere near 50 wrecks lying around.

I'm currently doing this mission with little effort in a passive tanked drake.
I only have a few mil SP, and about 50k in missiles. So it goes to show that anyone can do this with a nickel and dime Drake setup.

Setup is as follows:

7x 'Malkuth' Heavy Launcher [ 32x Scourge Heavy Missile ]

2x Large F-s9 Regolith Shield Induction
2x Kinetic Deflection Amplifier I
1x Heat Dissipation Amplifier I
1x Shield Recharger I

4x Shield Power Relay I

Follow Jorupp's information, and kill the weaker targets first. That is, the battle-cruisers usually. And take care not to pop the spawn placeholder until you're absolutely ready.
